Storms, Triggers and Tuning Forks

Friday, December 14th, 2012

Diane Eble, Certified Healing Codes PractitionerWhen something happens in your outer world, it can rock your inner world in unexpected ways.

That’s what we call “getting triggered.”

Anything can be a trigger, but certain events and times of the year can be triggers to many people.

For instance, Superstorm Sandy triggered all sorts of things for clients. I have a whole family who had a experienced a car accident years ago. The suddenness of Sandy triggered memories of the accident, which made it even more difficult for the family to weather the actual storm.

For many in the United States, the last election triggered a lot of anxieties and fears about the future. For those who came from a dysfunctional family, any number of issues could have been triggered, either before or after the election.

For people living in politically unstable regions, if instability was part of their growing up experience, the current situation will be amplified by the unhealed memories of the past that are being triggered.

The holidays inevitably trigger bad memories for many, which is why… Read More→

Being A Perfectionist?

Friday, June 1st, 2012

The day you were born God smiled.  He did not need to create you, He chose to. When you fully grasp that you will never again have the problem of feeling ‘less-than.’

Farai Chideya graduated from Harvard, worked for Newsweek magazine and quickly rose to the top. Yet she spent years living in the private hell of bulimia, trying to become like the glossy images in the make-believe world around her. When she finally broke free from the destructive grip of her disease she wrote, ‘Losing weight did not change my personality and it did not lighten the emotional baggage I carried from my childhood. I thought I wanted to be thin. What I really wanted was to be happy, and neither my looks nor my achievements could do that. Because I could not love or accept myself, the acceptance of others was never enough. When I tried to be perfect I came across as remote and unapproachable, yet the exact opposite was what I wanted.’

Then she shares four life-changing principles: ‘Your obsession to be perfect will: a) keep you trapped in loneliness, for satisfying relationships can only be built on honesty and total acceptance b) force you to see your shortcomings as something to hide instead of opportunities for growth c) keep you fixated on what you are going to be some day, instead of enjoying what you are right now d) rob you of the chance to make your life count, for by focusing constantly on yourself you will have nothing left to give to others.’ Think about it!

Have You Been Judged or Bullied?

Thursday, May 17th, 2012

Question:  Can you or someone else, formulate a response to the following question.  I’m working on myself, but I’m still having trouble with relationships in the world.  My family is great, but I have been extremely hurt by other people’s bullying and judgements.  Seems I don’t know how to protect myself and stand up for my needs.  Even good people abuse and bully me.

I’m grieving from a lifetime of trusted people viciously betraying me, and since this is a pattern, I need to find out what to do. Since I get along great with my parents, family and husband, I simply can’t figure out what’s going on out there in my other relationships.

I can’t tell you how much your response means to me. Is there a step or path that I can take to shift this?

Answer:  By E. T. Costello, head of the Practitioner Program for The Healing Codes.

I believe awareness is key. Your awareness.

I have rules of life I call ‘Organizing Principles.’ I encourage you to make up your own. Here are a few, not necessarily original with me.

1.  All living beings behave (think, feel, speak and act) from their level of awareness. It can be no other way.
2.  Lower awareness people and animals have more stress, perceive more threats than higher awareness people and animals.  They behave more primitively.
3.  Victimhood is a learned trait from childhood when we needed other people to meet our needs.
4.  Victimhood initially induces people to go into the ‘Rescuer’ mode.
5.  Victimhood attracts ‘Victimizers’ like prey attracts predators.
6.  People are inherently good and want to do the ‘right thing.’
7.  A lot of people don’t have experience with the ‘right thing’ so they act from a lower level of awareness.
8.  Balancing one’s self-interest with others’ self-interest is a very high value. Threatened people have no knowledge of this concept.
9.  Bullies are afraid and they operate on the premise that the bullied won’t notice their fear.
10.  and on and on.

Imagine the space around you is you just like your body is you and your clothing is you.  Your awareness of you space will make it more yours, and less theirs. Kind of like private property. You will want to work to make your space yours. It is your territory. Your energy of ownership will defend it.

Children who didn’t have the opportunity to fight with siblings or neighborhood friends or sports competitors don’t have much experience with fighting for themselves. Martial arts studios abound just to give people more self-confidence, not to turn children, women and men into warriors. I wouldn’t encourage you to punch someone in the face but knowing you do that can make an energetic difference in the way you carry yourself.

If you are a ‘goody-two-shoes’, tougher, meaner people think they see prey. If you are dealing with a pack of predators, you need to think in terms of singling them out. The pack leader can be a thug who gets his/her power from the slower witted pack members.

One on one, you can explain to the pack leader or someone who is smart enough to come to his or her senses how things are going to be (your own Organizing Principles) in the office. You will be teaching them the ‘right thing’ to do.  They do want to know the right thing. You can role play that in front of a mirror until you sound like Clint Eastwood playing ‘Dirty Harry Callahan’ in a movie.

Document your experiences, past and those in the future. Taking the negative energy and doing something with it will give you relief. Bullying is being addressed societally and it will help to have facts, in case you need them.

Find an ally. Don’t be rescued, be supported. People really respond to scrappy underdogs but not very well to victims.

Personally, I don’t believe their are employee problems, only management problems. The management of your place of business should be preventing this stuff from occurring.

If your place is so toxic, like working with a pack of rabid dogs, then leaving is a viable option. To leave without taking steps to correct the problem, however, could be cowardice.

I used to live in Manhattan. I loved the subways for their efficiency. But I did notice the people who walked like they owned the place and the people who trembled like prey on a tv special. Predators are not looking for a strong, confident person. They are looking for the weak and infirm. And the difference between those two groups was simply: attitude.

Finally, I believe that when we can see a ‘traumatic’ situation in a different light: “How is this blessing me?” everything can shift quickly. Mother Theresa was a good person but she could also ‘kick ass.’ To me, with my background, I think that is a great combination.

I hope this helps.

Tom

How She Cured Her Own Cancer

Saturday, April 7th, 2012

Can you really heal cancer yourself?

Thirty years ago Yvonne Chamberlain was told she had 6 weeks to live by the doctors who diagnosed black melanoma. They suggested wider incision after the biopsy and possibly taking off her leg to prevent the spread! Yvonne did not give up, nor did she submit to conventional therapies to cut or burn the cancer away. Here are some of her thoughts on how she healed her cancer, what full healing entails, and what happened when she decided to listen to the disease rather than blindly fighting it.

At first the shock hits you between the eyes and I thought “Why Me?” What have I done to deserve this? I am a mom with 3 little kids. How can I survive and do all that I do with only one leg? Can the medical profession guarantee that if they amputate that I will live, or will they just bury me with one leg missing? I was devastated.

I didn’t like the way things were in my marriage – it seemed that we lived on two different planets. I felt in overwhelm working so hard to support the family financially and I was so out of control emotionally. From my perspective I didn’t feel loved by my husband and kids. I was just the one who was supposed to be the servant to keep the whole house functioning and I didn’t feel appreciated. Self pity crept in and I began to play the game “poor little ol’ me!” Have you ever heard of it?

I didn’t go the medical road and have my leg amputated, nor did I have any chemo etc., but rather decided on a natural healing journey. In the process of the recovery I came across a book by Carl and Stephanie Simonton where they asked the question: “What is the benefit of your sickness?” I was furious to think that someone could even suggest that there could be a benefit to having cancer. But in the darkness of the night when I couldn’t sleep I began to consider if it just could be a possibility.

When that starts to happen the subconscious goes back in time to one’s childhood to ask, “As a child how did I get my needs met?” Yes, had to admit: I needed to be sick to get the love and attention that I craved from my very busy parents. It wasn’t that they didn’t love me, it is just they were on their own survival treadmill providing for the family. So the subconscious asks when you are playing the poor little ol’ me game,”How can you get this love and attention?” and so it allows your immune system to bring about the disease you subconsciously believe will get you the love and attention that you so desperately crave and need. This all happens in the subconscious – the cancer was really a “heart issue.”

And so the process of healing could begin once I identified what my needs were and how those needs could be met without resorting to sickness. My relationships with husband and family changed as I began to understand our differences in personality and love language. I had just assumed that people should have the same thoughts, perspectives and feelings as me. My faith in God was absolute and I knew that if I ran toward Him, He would be faithful to meet me.

I needed healing in spirit, soul and body. And that is what happened as I learned forgiveness, acceptance, discipline and how to appreciate and love myself as I was loved by God.

The promise I clung to was from the Gospel of John: “This sickness is not to death but that God’s Son would be glorified.” I had that written out on text cards all over the house.

Absolutely every person that I have worked with since, if they are not willing to clear the heart issues, no matter what modality of treatment they have followed will not work. Be it medical or a huge variety of alternative concepts and clinics, nothing works if the heart is holding the disease to get the benefits that the heart craves. Realize that the benefit of the sickness is at a subconscious level and the person may not realize in the beginning it is a heart issue. It’s always easier to blame something else outside of ourselves, because if I acknowledge I am responsible, then I must also claim the power to change myself through God’s help and guidance. I also believe that some kind of participation in the physical cure must be done to give the discipline of commitment to one’s own health. To get well, a person must have a reason to pay the price of change and personal growth.

To heal herself, Yvonne changed her attitudes, her thinking, her relationships, her marriage, her time management, value system, diet, exercise, nutritional supplementation. To help the many people who heard of her story and wanted to know how she healed herself, she wrote a book, Why Me? Kicking Cancer and Other Life Changing Stuff, that outlines all the steps she took in these areas.

“Cancer is not a death sentence, it is a learning experience,” she says.

Are You Ready to Heal?

Saturday, March 31st, 2012

I have noticed, in my own life and in the lives of the clients I work with, that healing can take a long time!

I have worked with a lot of clients who make very slow progress toward healing the memories and beliefs connected to the problem they have identified. Often they have healing responses or have great difficulty finding memories.

And when we test on resistance, often we find that that is the underlying problem.

There’s a story in the Bible that I can only paraphrase because I don’t remember the specifics, where someone came to Jesus for healing, and Jesus told him that he would heal him if that was what the man wanted. That passage used to puzzle me when I was younger because I could not hold in my mind the idea that anyone would not want to be healed!

But now, I think that passage fits this subject perfectly. Because of course, we want to be healed. But sometimes we don’t want to be healed. Sometimes, we have fear about what will change if we heal, and how we will cope with being well again. We may not even remember wellness because we have gotten so good at coping with our current challenge.

Is resistance or fear what’s keeping you stuck?

Let’s try an experiment.

Find a place to sit quietly and relax as deeply as you can. Notice any tension you feel in your body and breathe deeply to relax even more. Once you feel relaxed and calm, I want you to say the following statements and notice any place in your body that reacts to them.

I am ready to heal.

I am ready to let go of this challenge.

How did it feel to say them aloud? Try it again. Did anything in your body tense up? If you didn’t smile or feel a sense of wellbeing or hopefulness, you may have some resistance to healing. There may be a secondary gain you are experiencing that is keeping you stuck.

If you are working with a coach, you can have your coach test that for you so you will know for sure, and help you identify some of the beliefs that may be getting in your way. But even if you are not working with a coach, consider devoting some time to clearing your resistance.

You could use the same code you are working with now, but just take one coding session a day and devote to resistance or fear of healing.

If you try it, let us know how it goes!

Blessings on your journey!!

What is “the Heart”?

Saturday, March 3rd, 2012

Because The Healing Codes heals “heart issues” and not physical ones (though the physical heals as a result of the heart issues healing), it’s natural to ask, “What exactly do you mean by ‘the heart’?”

When we talk about “the heart” in the context of The Healing Codes, we mean both the inner core of a person–the essence of who they are–and the place where their spirit, soul (mind, will and emotions) and body intersect. It includes not only our conscious thoughts, beliefs, and will, but the unconscious and subconscious images and beliefs that are stored not only in our brains, but (as science is discovering) also in our very cells.

This is what I believe the Bible refers to as the heart, also called the inner person. It is the part of us that is being renewed from the spiritual life we receive from God. The spirit is connected to the heart, but they are not one and the same. The spirit is renewed when we receive God’s grace, and that process begins to transform “the heart” so that your whole self is transformed.

As your heart reorients toward Truth, the internal, unconscious stress signals that go out to your body’s cells and to your mind and emotions will change. Without the stress signals, the body, mind and emotions can heal, and your whole life improves.

This transformation happens whenever you become aware of negative beliefs and images and consciously replace the negative with the truth. This happens in prayer and meditation on the Truth. It is accelerated by practicing The Healing Code, which incorporates prayer and meditation but also adds an element that addresses the frequency of the negative images/beliefs directly.

Focusing on healing issues of your heart is truly “the heart” of transformation of all areas of your life, because you’re starting from the inside out. Jesus said all our issues come from the inside out, not the outside in. So you want to pay utmost attention to your heart. Solomon said, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” (Proverbs 4:23).
